Yesterday, celebrating the great feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Joseph Parish Shrine in Chicago marked the day with a special missionary celebration. The Franciscan Friars, who have served that parish for many years are sending Fr. Edward Shea, OFM to a new ministry in formation. After a process of dialogue with the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Franciscan community and a process of discernment, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart have decided to serve the parish. The MSC hope to continue the wonderful ministry handed on to them by the Franciscans while sharing the Spirituality of the Heart. As St. Paul served diverse communities, we welcome the challenge to serve a multi-ethnic parish community.
