The Sacred HeartFr. Joseph Jablonski, MSC (Provincial Superior) and Fr. Andy Torma, MSC (Vocation Director) recently attended the 2008 Sacred Heart Communities in Collaboration (SHCC) Conference in Marriotsville, Maryland. The theme of this year's conference was "Jesus, the Reconciling Healer: Calling Us to Harmony". The SHCC brings together religious communities which share a connection with the spirituality of the Sacred Heart and facilitates collaboration through national conferences and annual meetings of contact persons from participating groups. The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart have been a member of the SHCC since 1992, which is when the initial steering committee was formed under the leadership of Fr. Tom Gavery, SCJ. Fr. Mark McDonald, MSC, currently the Superior General of the worldwide MSC Congregation, was a member of that committee. This year's conference included guest speakers Rev. William J. Jarema, SMM, Mrs. Margaret Silf, and Rev. David P. Reid, SSCC and their talks centered harmony: "Harmony with Self and Conversion," "Harmony with Humankind and the World," and "Harmony with Community and Church." These themes certainly resonated with Frs. Joseph and Andy, both of whom have worked in in our Life's Healing Journey Retreats. Life's Healing Journey is a series of retreats the MSC give in both English and Spanish which offer a way to inner peace and harmony by guiding people in forgiveness and letting go of the harmful impact of feelings and reactions to hurts, losses and disappointments.
