Fr. Pierre Aubin, MSC, founder of the Sacred Heart FoundationThe Sacred Heart Foundation Annual Picnic and Board Meeting was held on July 22nd in Cape Vincent, NY at the home of John Tucker, a member of the Honorary Council. The Sacred Heart Foundation provides scholarships to young men around the world who are studying to become MSC. Over the years they have awarded more than $1 million and this year alone they awarded nearly $70,000 in scholarships. The picnic also served as a goodbye and congratulations party for Fr. Pierre Aubin, MSC, who founded the foundation in 1967, has served as a member of its Board of Directors for 41 years and who this year celebrates his 50th anniversary of being an MSC priest. The board members voted in Fr. Raymond Diesbourg, MSC to take Fr. Pierre's place on the Board of Directors. In addition to Fr. Pierre and Fr. Ray, several other MSC attended the picnic, including Fr. Mark McDonald (Superior General of the worldwide congregation) Fr. Joseph Jablonski (Provincial Superior of the MSC in the USA), Fr. Pancratius Joseph (MSC from India) and Fr. Benedict Ko (MSC from South Korea). There was certainly much to celebrate. It was Fr. Mark McDonald's birthday and Fr. Mark is also celebrating his 40th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood this year. The MSC are grateful to the Sacred Heart Foundation for their continued support which helps prepare the priests and brothers who work in 54 countries around the world to bring the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus through their ministry in parishes, schools, hospitals, prisons, and so much more. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be loved everywhere!
