The MSC Center in Kavieng, Papua New Guinea was created to serve as the “home base” for missionaries from the United States. The center was where the community held their retreats and meetings, and was also open to the larger community. For instance, diocesan priests held their meetings there and the MSC would run courses for diocesan priests in practical matters such as finance. The center also served as a site for retreats, both for the MSC community as well as for nurses and students. Today the center is used by the MSC Papua New Guinea Province, but since the province is relatively new and in need of financial support, the MSC in the USA continue to fund the center's use and maintenance.
