- Connect with your local parish. Many parishes have social groups for older adults and support groups for people facing the loss of a loved one. Parishes also offer a variety of ways to be involved with the larger community, through Mass, parish groups, events, and volunteer service.
- Check out the local YMCA for fitness classes, volunteer and service learning opportunities, and social clubs.
- Go to your local library. See what community celebrations, film showings or guest lectures they are hosting. Some libraries offer free classes, such as computer classes.
- Find out what’s going on at your community center. From dance or yoga classes to Wii to group trips, a community center gives us all the chance to try something new or meet with other people who share our interests.
- See what your local hospital or medical center has to offer. Many medical centers offer older adults free or reduced cost health screenings. Some offer classes designed to help people suffering from chronic disease (& their caregivers) manage their condition.
- Explore universities/community colleges in your area for Continuing Education programs and public events (i.e. lectures, sports events, musical performances, etc.)
