After 75 years of missionary service, the Lord called Br. John Rose, MSC to his eternal home on Saturday, November 19, 2011.  Br. John was 95 years old, the oldest member of the MSC USA Province. Yet he certainly never let age get in the way of his calling. In 1982, at the age of 66, Br. John volunteered for service in Papua New Guinea. He served there for eight years, first as the personal secretary to Bishop Karl Hesse, MSC, though he was soon promoted to the Office of Chancellor for the Diocese of Kavieng. Before his overseas assignment, Br. John served at the MSC headquarters in Aurora, IL as the Director of the Missionary Cooperative Program. He had previously served in several parts of the United States, including: as porter and supervisor of the laundry department in Shelby, OH; as a chef in Sparta, WI; as a purchasing agent and clerical secretary in Youngstown, OH and as Circulation Manager of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Magazine in Aurora, IL.

We are thankful for Br. John's many years of dedication and loving service to both the local and global Church and we will deeply miss his presence in our community.
