+ Father Norbert Weber, MSC +Early in the morning on January 5, the Lord called Fr. Norbert Weber, MSC to his eternal home. In his 54 years as a priest, Fr. Norbert served the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and the local Church in many different ways, including as vocation director, development director, pastor, and chaplain.

His parish ministry took him to Iowa (Sacred Heart Parish in Manning), Ohio (St. Rose of Lima Parish in Youngstown and St. Mary's Parish in Canton), Pennsylvania (St. John the Baptist Parish in Ottsville and Holy Family Parish in Nazareth), and Illinois (St. James Parish in Lee). From 1986-87, Fr. Norbert was given a sabbatical leave to study Spanish and Hispanic culture in Mexico and Colombia.

After retiring in Aurora, IL in 2003, he remained very active in preaching ministry and continued to help out when local parishes needed a priest to say Mass or hear confessions until his health began to fail in 2010.

We are thankful for Fr. Norbert's many years of dedication and loving service to the local Church. He was a pastor who cared deeply for his people, and we will miss his presence in our community.

Viewing will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 722 High St., Aurora, IL on Monday evening January 9, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday morning, January 10, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.  A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m.
