Fr. Benedict Ko participates in Asian Unity DayOn November 15, Fr. Benedict Ko, MSC, (a Missionary of the Sacred Heart from Korea who is currently living with the MSC Community in Chicago) and parishioners of St. Paul Chong Hasang participated in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee's Asian Unity Day. Each year, the Asian Catholic communities of the Archdiocese gather to celebrate their faith and their cultural diversity. In August of this year, Fr. Benedict, who is working on his thesis for the Doctor of Ministry degree at Catholic Theological Union, began a new ministry with the Korean Community of St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Mission in Milwaukee. Since then he has had several opportunities to celebrate Korean culture. For instance in September, Fr. Ben helped celebrate the Feast of the Korean Martyrs and Korean Thanksgiving, two important events for Korean Catholics. Asian Unity Day, which started in 1991, celebrates the enriching presence of the many Asian cultural groups (including Filipino, Vietnamese, Hmong, Lao, Korean, Chinese, Indonesian, India, and Sri Lankan) present in the Archdiocese. The day's events include Mass, an authentic Asian meal and a cultural program, including traditional and modern dance performances.
