Today’s readings are not about making little adaptations to our ways of thinking and acting. They are not readings about settling down and being comfortable. Above all, they are not readings about how to control our future. They are about radical change and risk-taking that need to be always present in our faith lives because we are in a living and loving relationship with God.  Trusting in God will bring major changes in our lives.

Many times the personal goals we set are less than what we are truly capable of realizing in life. A few of the first apostles thought they were simply going to be fishermen. God´s plan for them was much greater. Are we each open to God´s plan in our lives? Do we allow God to change our plans? Do we abandon our nets and follow him? We are all called. Are we listening? Are we willing to trust in God and be all that we can be? God believes in each of us. Do we believe in God and in ourselves?

With only a word, a glance, Jesus convinced others to accept the challenge. May our eyes and ears be open to him when he speaks to us and may we also transmit his faith in us to others!
