Small steps can make a big difference. Note, consult with a doctor before beginning any diet or exercise program.
Get enough sleep: Too little sleep weakens our immune system. Most adults need 7-8 hours a night.
Lower your stress: Chronic stress can increase the risk of several health conditions, including obesity, heart disease and depression. Stress can also lead to unhealthy behaviors such as overeating and substance abuse. Exercise can help relieve stress and tension, as can adjusting our expectations and prioritizing (how often do we stress ourselves out by trying to do it all, all at the same time?). When the stress results from a past event or trauma, we may not be able to remove the source of the stress, but we can change how we react to it. Check out Life’s Healing Journey retreats for more information.
Don’t forget your teeth: Simple steps like regular cleanings and oral exams at the dentist, brushing your teeth twice a day, and flossing every day helps prevent cavities as well as gum disease.
