Although the MSC work for the education of both boys and girls, they focus especially on the education of women and girls who often have an even harder time gaining access to education. In Rwanda, an MSC priest is currently working to provide ongoing spiritual support and counseling to survivors of the genocide. Other MSC ministries in Africa include working with refugees, prisoners, and displaced persons, HIV/AIDS ministry (both caring for those infected with the HIV virus, prevention programs, and caring for orphans whose parents have died from the disease), clean water projects, and the formation and training of future MSC who will continue and expand these ministries. The USA MSC help respond to this overwhelming need by sending financial assistance to the MSC African Union to help support the many MSC projects there.
