"Each community will ensure that the sick and aged members are cared for in such a way that they will really feel they are recognized and valued members of the community." (Constitutions of the Society of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, No. 128.)

Sacred Heart VillaOUR HISTORY:

A few years ago, the Center Valley community of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart made the transition from being a college seminary on the campus of Allentown College (now DeSales University) to becoming a residence and retirement community as well as a health care facility to meet the needs of our retired and infirm M.S.C. priests and brothers. Over the years, through the installation of an elevator, the remodeling of former students rooms into handicapped accessible suites, the initiation of a central nursing and pharmacy station, Sacred Heart Villa has become a very viable health care facility with all the necessary personnel to provide safe, dependable care in a loving, warm environment for community members. As an assisted living facility for our priests and brothers, it combines community living, supportive services, personalized assistance and healthcare in such a way as to meet each individual priest and brother's needs on a daily basis. These needs include bathing, dressing, medication reminders, etc. A dedicated staff of full-time and part-time employees meet these needs.

Sacred Heart VillaOUR PHILOSOPHY:
The success of Sacred Heart Villa is based on the Constitutions of the Society of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (Number 128) which establishes the Community's unwavering commitment to our elderly and infirm priests and brothers. Thus, Sacred Heart Villa takes a very special approach to assisted living by providing its residents with the opportunity to live their lives in modest comfort, and in a religious community rather than a public or private nursing home. They not only receive all the medical attention they require but also the spiritual nourishment which comes to them from the daily Eucharist, community prayer, and the companionship of their brothers in religion.

Linda Toggart, R.N.OUR ADMINISTRATION:
Sacred Heart Villa is part of the Pennsylvania regional community of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and is directly under the Provincial Superior and his Council. Supervising the Villa's day-to-day operations is Father E. Michael Camilli, M.S.C., Rector and Linda Toggart, R.N., Director of Health Care Services. In addition to his duties as Rector of Sacred Heart Villa, Father Camilli also works as the Secretary for Catholic Life and Evangelization for the Diocese of Allentown, serves as the Local Superior of the MSC community in Pennsylvania and is a member of the Provincial Council. Linda Toggart, R.N., came to Sacred Heart Villa with credentialed nursing and supervisory skills as well as recognized nursing leadership and experience in the Lehigh Valley.

Br. Mike Tomcics, MSCOUR PEOPLE:
Providing exceptional residential care takes a very special group of people: Registered Nurses, Personal Care Aides, Chefs, Secretaries, Maintenance, Volunteers, etc. Many think they can take care of elderly priests or brothers, but it takes a very special person to do it well and from the heart. As Missionaries whose religious charism espouses the spirituality of the Sacred Heart, this is always our first consideration: the heart factor. Consequently, Sacred Heart Villa has loving and caring people in its employment who provide special quality care. They make it possible for our priests and brothers to feel that they are living in a real home, and not in an institution or in a nursing home.

Sacred Heart VillaHOW YOU CAN HELP:
The cost of providing for these elderly priests and brothers is more than we are able to fund by ourselves. We need support and assistance from good-hearted, caring people like you. Your generous contribution will reach out and touch the lives of these special M.S.C. priests and brothers with love. Besides experiencing the special joy that comes from bringing aid and comfort to others, you will also receive the heartfelt gratitude and prayers of all the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
