Each month, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in the United States pray a novena to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart for a special intention taken from the Holy Father’s intentions. To join us in the novena this month, simply set aside time to say the rosary each day from February 19 through February…

By Fr. David Foxen, MSC  From the beginning of the Church, there have always been some who thought that only the really good people should be counted as belonging in the Church. The thinking runs something like this: every baptized person is called to put on Christ and to live the Gospel. Those who don’t…

October 21st is an important date to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart around the world as it is the anniversary of the death of our Founder, Father Jules Chevalier. This usually refers to all of the canonized saints who have been officially recognized by our church for their exemplary lives. They stand as witnesses to us of God’s goodness and point us to Christ as the way to eternal…

By Fr. David Foxen, MSC  This weekend we celebrate the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven. It is the day we commemorate how Mary, having completed her life here on earth, experienced the fullness of the resurrection, coming into the definitive union with God in the Kingdom of Heaven. The…

Life can be hard as a rock and often tragic. We live in a world where evil is not only possible but happening all over. But what we often discover is that it is in those hard and tragic times that true believers in God are born. When Peter realizes he is about to be swallowed by the waves, he cried out for help. And there was Jesus taking him by the hand. Great faith grows out of doubt and despair. This story is repeated over and over again in the Bible. It is during the hardest times that faith reaches the greatest heights.Jesus greatest challenges, to take care of the poor and to feed the hungry? This is what we signed up for. We do have to become more involved.
