By Fr. Earl Henley, MSC The Temptation To Hopelessness—- Weeds And Wheat Wisdom 12:13, 16-19    Matthew 13: 24-43 “You gave your children good ground of hope.”  Wisdom 12:19. Before we totally committed our life to Jesus we walked in the valley of hopelessness. Life, in general, seemed hopeless. To cope with this we would retreat…

Fr.  Vincent Freeh, MSC, who recently celebrated his 61st Anniversary of Ordination, has a passion for restoring the family as an essential cultural value.  In this five-part video series, he teaches us about the importance of prayer.  “We need prayer that we might be free from ourselves and not only from ourselves but so that we can turn to others with God’s truth and love.”
Our reflection today may be one of the most difficult to face, and we may not want to dwell on the subject at all, but it is a reality we cannot deny. Good and evil are at war within us.

To discover how much we have grown, all we have to do is look at what kind of sowers we have become. Today, we are the sowers, we are the ones called to “go out to sow,” to live as our faith calls us to leave, to share our faith with those whom God puts in our path and to share God’s love: “Go out into the whole world and tell the good news…

Life is meant to be shared, not only with people but also with God. This, I think, is what prayer is. It is not begging God to give us things, no matter how much they might benefit us. It is giving ourselves to God and allowing God to give Himself to us.

We are often told that we live in an uncaring world. It is hard to argue with that! For some people, life is like a daily crucifixion. They never get off the cross. The only thing they ever experience is abuse and rejection. Unless we make kindness a way of life, we may never experience how our acts of kindness could, and very often, do make a huge difference in someone’s life, and perhaps it may be the only sign that there is someone who loves them.

Before Jesus returned to His Father, He commissioned the apostles to an enormous task, to go out into the whole world and tell everyone about the Father’s love for them. All along, Jesus kept telling them that what He was asking them to do was going to be difficult and will meet with much opposition.

An Essay written by Sr. Gerardine Doherty, FDNSC – As part of our Preparation for the Celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart on June 19, 2020 Jules Chevalier was intensely aware of the “evils of his time” and he urgently desired to restore to those wounded by such “evils” their rightful dignity, the…

Every time that a priest consecrates the bread and wine into Christ’s actual body and blood, a miracle occurs! The bread and wine are changed into the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus. What still remains are the appearances of bread and wine. The reason why is obvious.
