Monday of Holy Week
People crowded. A loud voice declared clearly: “Why was this oil not sold for 300 days’ wages and given to the poor?” How amazing this generous people. They know how to be truly generous. Almsgiving! Yet, Jesus says: “Let her keep this for the day of my burial.” What‘s wrong here?
We should understand how grateful Mary and Martha felt for bringing their brother back to life. We can smell the fragrance of this beautiful act of gratitude, as it fills the whole house.
Ultimately, we should want what God wants. And it is Mary who continues to be admired for offering her loving heart. Shortly after Mary’s action, Jesus will himself wash his disciples’s feet, in a similar act of love and humility.
In keeping up this spirit, we open ourselves to all that God wants of us, loving Him and others more closely during this Lenten time.
