Father Raymond Diesbourg, MSC is celebrating his 50 th anniversary of his priestly ordination that took place on June 8, 1974. He made his final profession on September 13, 1970. He was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He entered the Sacred Heart Mission Seminary in Geneva, Illinois in the fall of 1960. After completing minor seminary studies, he began philosophy studies at De Paul University in Chicago, Illinois where he earned his BA. He entered the novitiate at Youngstown, Ohio in 1966, making his first profession of vows on September 13, 1967. Fr. Ray was ordained a priest on June 8, 1974, in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada.

Fr. Ray studied theology at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and was one of the founders and elected first president of the National Federation of Catholic Seminarians. He attended the Academia Alfonsiana, Rome, Italy and received the S.T. L. in moral theology in 1976. He has served in leadership for the MSC’s for a long list of positions from 1978 through 2004. Fr. Ray also ministered as a hospital chaplain and, participated in various retreats in the USA and in the Archdiocese of Rabaul and Diocese of Kavieng in Papua, New Guinea. He was appointed Pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Ottsville, PA and in September of 2009, he became the Provincial Superior of the USA Province and served 3 terms for a total of 9 years. In 2020, he became the local Superior of the Watertown, NY MSC community where he currently resides and is Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Cape Vincent, NY.
