Jesus willed to be born of a woman. His human heart was formed from the flesh of Mary His Mother, formed from the “heart” of Mary through the human, spiritual, and religious education which He received from her.
Mary was the one whom God had prepared, the one to whom He entrusted His Word -made-flesh. It was she who, keeping all things in her heart, led her son gradually to grow in age and wisdom until He reached His full maturity.
Reading the account of the wedding feast at Cana, we note Mary’s attentive thoughtfulness for the young couple as they were faced with the embarrassing problem of not having enough wine for their guests.
At Cana, as Bible experts point out, as the human mother, Mary invites her Son to be Himself. Her human task of formation was complete. She invites Him to begin His mission as a caring Savior to bring the Good News to His people.
In following Christ, we are to love with our human heart. We are to be sensitive and attentive to the needs of others and respond to these needs. We work in the Church, receptive to the influence of the Holy Spirit, to form the followers of Christ. For all this, we need to be among the disciples whom Jesus loved, who take Mary “into their homes.”
Prayer to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart
Remember, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the great things the Lord has done for you. He chose you for his Mother. He wanted you close to his cross. He gives you a share in his glory. He listens to your prayer. Offer him our prayers of praise and thanksgiving; present our petitions to him. Let us live like you, in the love of your Son that his Kingdom may come. Lead all people to the source of living water that flows from his Heart, spreading over the world hope and salvation, justice and peace. See our trust in you; answer our prayer. Show yourself always our Mother. Amen
