Baptism of the Lord 2019
It is awesome to have contemplated once more the coming of Jesus among us at Christmas time. It is equally awesome to contemplate the great trust God has placed in each of us, the baptized! The Lord became one with us and unlocked the great human potential that we all have. We are now God’s adopted children and called to carry on the mission of Christ, “doing good and healing all those oppressed by the Devil”, as the second reading tells us.
Today more than ever each of us is called to be light, as Isaiah tells us and to do something positive to heal the world; to free those who are imprisoned, physically, emotionally, spiritually; to open the eyes of those who are blinded by the false values of the world. Each of us in our own small way is called to be servants of the Lord. None of us is unimportant. Each of us has a specific mission wherever we find ourselves.
Today as we bless ourselves with Holy Water, we are called to believe in ourselves as God believes in us and to act as the sons and daughters of God that we are.
