Fr. Joseph Gleixner, MSC, passed away on March 1, 2024. He was born in Reading, PA, on October 19, 1938. He entered Sacred Heart Mission Seminary in Geneva, IL. In 1957, and proceeded to the novitiate at Youngstown, OH, making his first profession of vows in 1958 and perpetual vows in 1961. He was ordained a priest on Jan. 30, 1965. His first assignment was in the missions of Papua New Guinea until January 2002 Fr. Joe returned to the States.
In 2018 he was transferred to Center Valley MSC Community, PA where he died on March 1, 2024. At his request, Fr. Gleixner would be buried at the MSC Sisters Cemetery in Laureldale, PA.

I worked with Fr Joe at Namatanai New Ireland Province in PNG around 1978.
He was an inspiration, leader and spiritual beacon within our small community at the time.
When I worked for the Diocese of Kavieng I kept in touch from time to time, in subsequent years I left P.N.G and contact dwindled.
On returning to PNG some years later when Fr Joe was Father Superior I was pleased to find the same friend with he big smile.
On learning of his death recently in Australia I returned to memories of a very good time in my life, he is a great loss to us all.
