All Saints Day

In celebrating the feast of All Saints it begins with a name. In the entrance of the Baptismal rite the parents are asked what name have you given your child? A saint’s name should be given. This is the first opportunity we have of aspiring to the goal of our existence to become a saint. The greatest gift possible is our citizenship in heaven. Along that journey to God, the child will be accompanied by his guardian angel and his patron saint. He will assimilate with family and church the beauty of our Savior and the Redemption. He will learn how to become a saint. In Baptism the greatest event has happened: He has been chosen, adopted by God to share in the divine eternal life. In this corrupted world he will see God through the EYES of faith, hope and charity. Is there anything more beautiful than the Catholic Church where the very body and blood of our Savior is offered up?

Jesus did not write a Manifesto but gave us the Holy Spirit who would guide us into all truth, especially the command to love God totally which means: all things are vanity unless it leads you to the one object, GOD. As we carry our cross on the long journey to God we have the invisible church in heaven praying for us that we will learn from them through their lives and especially through their writings how to become like them: Eternal Happiness in the city of God. “You have made us for yourself and our hearts are restless until they rest in God” (St. Augustine)
