In 1934, Mr. John Dicks bought the 119 acres Kohler farm on Route 39 and then sells it to the MSC for $1! This property expanded several times over the years. It served as the house of philosophy and theology, the novitiate, and adult education and conference center. Shelby closed as an MSC house in 1982.
