Life can be hard as a rock and often tragic. We live in a world where evil is not only possible but happening all over. But what we often discover is that it is in those hard and tragic times that true believers in God are born. When Peter realizes he is about to be swallowed by the waves, he cried out for help. And there was Jesus taking him by the hand. Great faith grows out of doubt and despair. This story is repeated over and over again in the Bible. It is during the hardest times that faith reaches the greatest heights.Jesus greatest challenges, to take care of the poor and to feed the hungry? This is what we signed up for. We do have to become more involved.

Christianity is about witnessing, and the whole idea of witnessing is to “go and do likewise.” The opposite to love is not hatred, but indifference. God is love, so if I am indifferent, then I must seriously ask myself where God is in my life? It is a basic question that we must ask, and only we can answer it! Did I mention that this was one of Jesus greatest challenges, to take care of the poor and to feed the hungry? This is what we signed up for. We do have to become more involved.
In the heart of God, the most important thing in the entire universe is human relationships. God knows and loves us and wants us to know and love Him. God also wants us to know and love one another. Jesus spelled this out when He spoke of the two most important commandments. The first, He said, was to love God with all our hearts and the second was to love our neighbor as ourselves. The most important thing to God is human relationships, and deep on the inside, where our true values lie, that is also the most important thing to us.
