“The healthy do not need a doctor”
“God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him” (Jn 3). Jesus said: “The healthy do not need a doctor; sick people do. I have not come to invite the self-righteous to a change of heart, but sinners” (Lk 5).
At some time in our lives we may have an image of God based on fear rather than love, or at least some combination of the two in which fear has a prominent role. The heart of Jesus reveals the Father as he really is!
God creates and God heals. Both are ongoing and gradual. The movement is from chaos to order and peace. It has taken ages to bring nature to where it is today; so too, human affairs, large and small. The aim of God’s work is love: oneness with God in love, and harmony among us. That takes time. The love of God is faithful. God ask only for our trust.
Prayer:
Here I am, Lord, the same old me. You can make me into the new me. Give me patience with myself and with others as you bring your creation to its fulfillment, as you heal all of our wounds.
